Bilbao, October, 10th, 2024 – CIE Automotive sees the European automotive energy transition policy as ‘a disaster’.
The president of CIE Automotive, Antón Pradera, has stated that the European policy of energy transition in the automobile is ‘a disaster’ because it is based ‘on fines’, instead of ‘encouraging demand’. In this sense, he warned that there could be a ‘very high’ social cost if the European automotive industry is not helped.
Antón Pradera took part this Wednesday in a luncheon colloquium organised by Deusto Business Alumni, under the title ‘Transformation of the automotive sector in times of uncertainty’.
In a conversation with Iñigo Úrculo, partner at Deloitte Zona Norte, Antón Pradera said that the sector is ‘very worried’ because Europe had ‘world champions’. According to him, Europe, in this sector, was ‘dominant in the world’ and he recalled that ‘they could go to China and take 60% of the Chinese market’. ‘These were things we did because we were champions. Now what we are doing is not being champions any more’, he warned.
